I am working on a ravelry pattern
Patterson Beanie by sarah fitzpatrick
100 stitches
on the first decrease round *p4 p2tog (repeat from*) you will have 90 stitches
When I have completed this round I only have 84sts Confused

That's how many I would expect to end up wtih as well. Reading ahead in the pattern, the numbers on the second decrease round don't seem to add up either.

Strangely only one of the projects on Ravelry mentions that the numbers are off.

I think you can keep going, though.. and just end when you have just a few stitches left...

I once saw a pattern that had a CO of 101 stitches, then wanted a 1x1 ribbing, (it was joined in the round) then said to decrease evenly. I just laughed, cause 101 is a prime number. I wish people, would double check patterns for errors and such, some can be quite obvious.
