Hi Knitters,
I have been working on a sweater. My sister wants to know why my needles don't click when I knit. I never really thought about this. But now, since I am thinking about it and now feel self conscious, why are my needles not clicking? I did enjoy the sounds the needles made when my grandmother was knitting. It was comforting and plus we always knew where she was. I want to click, but I don't know how. Sorry for this silly question.

Wow! Thatīs true. Shocked I miss that sound too.

What material your needles are? Maybe our grannies used different kind of needles. Nowadays medal needles might be made by nickel-plated steel, copper-plated aluminum, nickel-plated brass, steel or aluminum. We should try those different varieties and check if some of them click more than others or try to find some old-fashioned needles.

I am sure it has something to do with the needle material. I have had some of mine about forty years or longer and when I use those DH complains about the clicking noise.

Thank you for the replies. I had my mom observe me today as I knitted. Apparently, I hold (or choke) the needles too close to the tips. I explained that I am afraid that the knitting will fall off the needles otherwise. I was told to relax. I will see if I will be able to relax!
