Does anyone fancy joining me with this. It's just the thing for this cold weather and it would make it go faster. I'm knitting it for a neighbour. she saaw mine and asked if I'd do one for her but it is very slow going and I could do with a bit of encouragement.

It's here and the picture doesn't do it justice.

That's beautiful. When I get my Christmas knits finished, and DD's birthday sweater, I would do that. My mom would love it, and her birthday is March 17.

I may join you on this one once the festivities are over !
I just need to find an alternative yarn, no money left for the real thing.
Any suggestions ?

I've done it in Sirdar's Bonus Aran with Wool before and I was really pleased with it so I'm using it again. At less than 8 for 400gm it's a good after-Christmas-spending knit. You only need one ball but you might prefer to use a size bigger needle for a more open look. I pressed mine under a cloth to flatten it a bit.

I just found your thread Yvonne...I like the looks of this but I'll have to check my stash for something else to work it in. I have some wool/linen that might fit the bill if I can get gauge. I might try it w/ a few less repeats in width When I get down out of the attic and have the Christmas decorations safely away, I'll swatch and let you know!!!

The times I have intended to do this! I have some Stylecraft aran Yvonne which might just do, but I shan't be starting just yet.

I have seen several of these completed, and they have all been lovely.

Sylecraft Aran should work very well. It feels very like the Sirdar. I hope it works well as I have some pink mix that I might use for another one. The one for my neighbour is in fawn.
