I said that I would post this recipe ages ago, but since I just made it and had the recipe handy, I thought I'd make good on my promise.
Peel and slice apples. Fill a 9 x 13 pan half full. I can't tell you how many apples this will take, so just peel one or two at a time.
On top of the apples, place a mixture of:
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. salt
4 T. flour
1 c. sugar
For the biscuit topping mix:
2 c. flour
3 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/4 c. shortening
Milk
Add the milk until the topping is runny like cake batter.
Bake at 350 for about an hour. Toward the end of the baking time, check it to make sure the biscuit topping doesn't get overdone.
This is an absolute favorite in our family. DH grew up eating it soaked in milk and cinnamon sugar. I don't like soggy food, so I just eat mine like apple pie. It also works well for breakfast with a lovely cup of coffee. _________________ Help find a cure for ALS! |

Oh, thank you. That does sound yummy. Do you just use any kind of apples? I am going to share it with all my family. I will make it when the grandkids are up in a couple of weeks. _________________ Have a mice day. |

Any sort of good baking apple will do. We only make it from the apples we pick here on the farm. I've never had it with store-bought apples. _________________ Help find a cure for ALS! |

I am on a Gala apple stint.....I'll bet I eat 3 a day. I've read when you crave something it's your body telling me you are lacking something. What does craving apples mean? I'm low on worms? _________________ www.knittinghaven.com |

It could mean you are low on pectin. Have you had a cold that affected your lungs lately? Pectin is good for the lining of the lungs. _________________ Help find a cure for ALS! |

Our neighbour gave us masses of apples last year. They don't know what sort they are but they are lovely to eat and they cook beautifully, which must be unusual, mustn't it.
I'll definitely be trying this recipe. _________________ Yvonne

We eat our apples as well as cook with them. I like a really tart apple, myself. We don't even know what kind they are, really. They just get ripe and we pick them. We tried storing them in the basement, but they started to get pruny. I just sliced them up and froze them. It makes making a pie or jonakin really easy. _________________ Help find a cure for ALS! |
