Not sure where to post this and not sure if they're actually called shawl pins.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any creative suggestions for things to use as "shawl pins?" (They seem to be quite expensive in the yarn catalogs I get in the mail.)

Here's a few that are not all too pricy;

And there's this price (is it too good to be true?);

One more, these look nice, 'n the prices are reasonable;

Just thinking, you could take a large wooden or glass bead (or drill a hole in the object of your choice) 'n stab it through with any sort of prong. Catch the wool on the front and back of the stab instead of in the middle.
