Some of you might recall I have a bad relatioship with lace Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy I can do the patterns no problem in 4 ply upwards but the fine yarns dislike me. Well I think I cracked it. I bought a kit from Jamieson and Smith at knit camp

So far so good I have knitted 3 balls of the 11 and apart from an odd mistake it is going well. It is a bit more substantail than the very fine laceweight but still nice and light and it looks lovely knitted. It is slighty scratchy but it will settle when washed, I saw one on display at the show
Very Happy It is taking a while so I will have to interupt with christmas knits but am looking forward to finishing it

That's a lovely design. What colour did you choose?

I'm glad to hear it's going well so far.

I like that pattern. I think a little more substance in the wool will make it warm and comfy. I like the look of the cobweb and fine lace weights, but that one looks like something I would wear a lot!! Good for you on figuring it all out. Way to go!

That's nice. Glad you decided to try lace again.

Having a change and doing something else as well is a good idea. When I'm doing a detailed lace pattern, I often only work on it for an hour or so then change to something less intensive.

Lillybee, that's very pretty. It sounds like you'll have it finished in time for spring and it looks to be perfect for that season.
Smile Good for you that you are figuring it out.

thank you for all the lovely comments. I have used 3 of the 11 balls of wool and it is knitting really well. I put it on one side for now as I have some requests for christmas knits. I will definitely go back to it when I have more time

Perhaps that is how I should get 'into lace'. I do fear the cobweb fine threads. My eyes get bleary just looking at the pattern picts. Putting that on my list.

I started 'lace' last year with mohair and Noro silk garden lite still working up the courage to do something with finer yarn though knitting into back of stitch is making my current Noro one lacier Smile
