Thanks GA, I'll try that. I had better start my next pair so that I can embed it in the brain. Oh yeah, notes work tooo! Confused

Yvonne, I may have to turn off the television or book on cd when I try the next heel. Focus... Focus.... where are you?

About the stitch markers, a friend from a knitting club suggested the brightly colored TINY rubberbands that they sell for little girl pig tails (they are less than 1/2 inch across.) I have yet to buy any, but the few she gave me worked great, they didn't take up any room on the needles and they are relatively inexpensive.

What about the rubber bands used on braces?

I would highly recommend Lucy Neatby's vid Knitting Gems 2 for those having issues with short rows... She shows both methods (with and without stitch markers)..

I just got some stitch markers made by Boye. They are the wafer thin ring markers. I really like them a lot. I usually don't use stitch markers because of the size issue, but these don't take up any room at all. Just a suggestion.

I'm a bit late, but I just CO for my first pair. It took a few rows to get used to such fine yarn and small needles!

I have to confess that my knitting projects haven't gained much of a priority over my vacation, at least until today. Rolling Eyes I was sitting on a backless stool yesterday and really did a number on my back. We were fishing at the Mai Tiki Bar. A true fisherman's dream, you can have a drink while sitting at the bar and still fish.... what a shocker that was for me. We caught a couple Bonnethead Sharks that were quite interesting, among other wonderful fish that we kept for an upcoming dinner.

Since I will be outa commission today with my sore aching back, I am vowing to get onto the sock knitting today, may venture out to the pool later to tan a bit more, but again, I solemnly vow to take my knitting with me while lounging today.

I am impressed at the color that this yarn has turned out knitted... I can't wait to finish them and post picks of the three pairs of socks that I have completed to date. Very Happy

The weather has been so wonderful the last couple of days! It was rather on the chilly side the first week we were here, but warm enough that capris were quite comfy.

I have collected loads of different sized sea shells from the beach, I was hoping to incorporate them into some of my knitting .... Any ideas? Question

It sounds as though you're hooked on knitting socks now!

As for the shells, I saw a site the other day which had used shells to make stitch markers. I don't know whether any of the shells you have would be suitable.

I hope your back is better soon - make sure you take it easy.

Stitch markers! Shocked What a novel idea! I have some shells of all sizes and that would work splendidly! Thanks for the wonderful idea! Wink I do plan to take it easy today, just going to lounge and knit today! Rolling Eyes

Ist sock finished. It fits really well but I'm not happy with my holey heel. Good job no one will see it when it's on.

I've cast on the second sock and done the toe already. The provisional cast on bit isn't a problem. But must try harder with this short row heel.

I've finished these toe-up socks at last. They just need to be blocked. Short row heels are easier than heel flaps but I haven't got the hang of them yet. I still have a line of holes down the heel. More practice needed, methinks.
