I wanted to thank everyone who participated. This is my first KAL and it was a lot of fun. Such variety of color and patterns and all so pretty.
This is my second pair in the Jade DK - Same Baby Fan pattern. I made a matching cowl in WW. (I'll post the pic of that over under the "Old Shale Smoke Ring" topic.)

O.K. I give up - I copy and pasted the line that says "Image Source" several times and it's not showing up. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks. |

You need to go for the line "BB Code" rather than "HTML img". (The text will start with img in square brackets.)
Your mitts look great. _________________

Thanks! (Not sure which one I finally copied that made the pic show up, but I thought it wasn't the right one.) I'll get the hang of it eventually. |

Good job on the mittens! They'll come in handy with the snow that's been coming down the last few days |

A while back I printed the pattern for the pink cabled fingerless gloves your link shows. They're so pretty! But, being a beginner and finding charts pretty complicated to follow, I thought there was a mistake in the chart...I started knitting them and it appeared to me that you should omit (I think it was rows 9 and 10 of the chart) because otherwise the cable comes too close to the previous one. Am I mistaken about that? It's quite possible I wasn't reading the chart correctly! Anyway, I ended up not finishing them but I would like to make them because I just love anything with cables! |
I've just cast these on again and I think you're right. This is an 8 row pattern. Rows 9 and 10 on the chart are the same as rows 1 and 2 so should be omitted. I rarely ever work from charts if there is a written alternative so I didn't notice this the first time I did them. _________________ Yvonne

Yvonne, THANKS! That's what I thought.
So far, I much prefer written instructions to charts too. I don't seem to be able to read charts very well at all. That one threw me. Maybe I'll try the pattern again now. |

Actually, I've frogged this now because it was obvious that I hadn't enough yarn but I also altered the pattern because the cufffs were very long.
Also as I have smallish hands I cast on fewer stitches. So I cast on 44sts, did 26 rows to the start of the thumb gusset shaping and only increased to 12sts for gusset.
Also only had 6 sts after pattern to first marker.
There's also a mistake on row 1. The k4. should be k2, otherwise the cable is over 12 stitches not 10. Row 5 is correct and the cable is 10 sts.
Hope this helps. _________________ Yvonne
