I had been wondering about this for a while, and another thread got me thinking about it again.

What are general opinions about having a KAL every other month or so? We could pick a type of pattern (shawls, sweater, socks, etc) then whoever would like to join in can pick their own pattern, and get some encouragement here.

I really enjoyed the Forest Canopy KAL last year, and have found a lot of new patterns through the fingerless glove KAL this month.

Yes, great idea. Might encourage us to stick with something until it's finished.

I think that's a great idea too.

I enjoy looking at the patterns others find and adding them to my line-up (Nony may be SABLE, but I think I'm PABLE Laughing ), and the conversations about what yarns we are using are very informative.

Sounds good to me - I agree it's good for pattern search

Not sure where to put this but do we have a thread where people can say about yarns they've used??
I'm using one now & its making my fingers a bit sore as it's rough-wouldn't have bought it if I'd seen a comment about this + I've just finished using a yarn that was nice & I would recommend it - can't remember if we set anything up - I can't find it if we did Embarassed

There's a section here for reviews. Feel free to post away in it, it's been a bit neglected, and it might inspire some more of us to post there!

I will join if I have time. I have a lot of stash to use up and have patterns picked out for a lot of it. I joined a couple of KALs on Ravelry and made the mistake of adding most of the patterns to faves. Very Happy Very Happy

Can I propose a shawl knit-a long for March? We might all have knocked off a few WIPs by then and be ready.

I'd be up for a sock knit-a-long too and anything else you'd care to name. Very Happy

Well, the thread that prompted this was about shawls, so sounds good to me. Very Happy

How about if we start a thread mid February? It'll give people a chance to think about what they want to do.

It seems as though March is going to be a shawl KAL.

If you have any suggestions for themes or techniques, please could you post them here? If we have a rough idea of what we'd like to do throughout the year, it may be easier to make sure they happen.
