As you may already have noticed, you can now link to an avatar to appear under your user name.

In order to add an avatar, the image you want to use will have to be hosted online (somewhere such as Photobucket or Imagehosting123). Once you have done this, you will need to copy the URL of your picture and paste it into the 'Avatar Control Panel' at the bottom of your profile (the link is at the top of each page).

Please make sure that your chosen image is no larger than 100 x 75 pixels, and the file is no larger than 6KB. You can easily check this when you copy the URL, and it will ensure that the posts are still easy to read.

I have been trying to add photo that isn't originally avatar & can't make it small enough.
On photobucket - I clicked on avator size - but it's still coming out too big on forum
Can anyone help please?

Try refreshing the page in photobucket.

If that doesn't work, log out, go to a different site, then back to photobucket and log back in. Sometimes it seems as if it takes a while to catch up with what you want it to do.

You'll have to right click on the pic you want and say save picture as. Then go to a site like www.photobucket.com or www.imageshack.com and upload it. That site will give you the URL for the pic. You are trying to load a URL for the entire page instead of just one pic and that's why it's not working I hope this helps Smile

Ok, Thank you. I thought Webshots was similar to Photobucket though. Each photo has a different URL in the address bar. I can click on a picture and use the "Link To It" and add a picture to the Forum:

I will give your advice a try though.

I have Photobucket, and had the same issue... Next time, I'll try editing the pic down to size before loading it into Photobucket...

Is there any way to reduce the file size? I know less than zero about this whole thing, but I have a picture I would like to use as my avatar, but the file size is 15k. Way too big for use here.

You should have some sort of photo program that will allow you to reduce the size of the pic... Or.. you can upload to photobucket, and reduce the size there...
