Hello,
I am originally from Texas but have been living in Kansas for 20 yrs. We live on a farm with cattle, 6 horses, 1 donkey, 2 Llamas, 2 Alpacas and 11 dogs and tons of feathered friends. Iforgot my loveing Nubians I have 7 does and 1 buck.
I knit and even spin my fiber...I hope to enjoy this site and hope other knitters from Kansas are on here too. Not to many people around me knit or spin. Again Hello!

Welcome aboard, Chaty.

It sounds as though your animals must keep you busy.

I look forward to hearing more about your projects.

Thanks everyone for the kind welcome. Yes they do keep me busy but most earn their keep. When I have time I try to catch up on my knitting and with colder weather comming its almost time to break out the Alpcaca and Llama fleece to get it spun up, or at least into roving so I can make some Thrummed mittens for the cold weather. Yes I hope to be chatting soon...Thanks again Very Happy

Hello and Welcome. I'm in Louisiana, married, 7 kids, 4 kids still at home. We have one kitty cat, Jabba.

I grew up on a chicken farm and we also had cattle, goats, pigs, horses, ducks, and chickens of course, thousands of em. some days I miss it, most days I'm glad I don't have to get up at 5 am to milk anything lol.

I knit, crochet, read, paint, sew, and decorate (we bought a fixer upper that's still way more fixer, than uppered)

I've never spun but I've watched a lot of spindle videos trying to work up the courage. Lucky you to have raw supplies at hand.

I first learned to spin with a spindle and then advanced to thewheel. Wish there was someone around here to help but nope...learned watching videos and still learning. Clipping Alpacas and Llamas isnt easy at my age as they arent the type of cuddley type animals. Sometimes I think in the long run with the rice of feed its cheaper to get full fleece of Ebay...
I have only had them a year or so, and after you get 1 done your not in any hurry to do the other.

I learned on a spindle, too.. I haven't spindled in forever.. I should get back to that, just so I won't lose the skill.. I also need to practice 'ply on the fly'..

BTW, Chaty.. I teach at a workshop in August in the wilds of the Ozarks.. Here's a link to the website.. http://www.christiansonnativecraft.org/

You're not too far away, you might consider coming and taking a spinning class.. or any of the others for that matter...
