I saw this challenge in a group I'm in on Ravelry, and thought it might be fun to try something similar here.

The basic idea is that you take a long hard look at your stash, and before the New Year list a certain number of yarns that you want to knit with next year. They aren't the only one that you can use, but it's a way to encourage knitting with those special skeins that you couldn't resist buying.

The Ravelry challenge is specifically for socks, and they have a limit of 24 socks' worth to be listed by the beginning of the New Year. I'm taking part in that, but I'm also going to use the same principle to pick some non-sock yarn.

If anybody is interested in taking part in this, please reply here, and I'll set up a forum alongside our monthly planning ones.

Sounds good. I need to take part. My stash is out of control. Trouble is I'm booked up until March but I could join in then.

I will join, as long as I can do what I can... Embarassed Embarassed

I have been trying to talk myself into knitting a little more this coming year. This year has been a real dud for me. Rolling Eyes

Maybe we could also make this a knit for Christmas early type thing.
I definitely need that. Embarassed

I keep saying I am going to start right after Christmas for the next year but as so burned out on Christmas knitting that I don't. I even have a dresser drawer that is all ready for Christmas knitting.

I managed to use some of my stash this yr so going to re-sort it all out in the New year and decide which yarn I'd like to start on! Think it will be good to have a thread to keep track.

The original idea of the monthly threads was to plan ahead for gift knitting. I can change the description of the forums to include that again.
